Riverview Town Council is considering the re-adoption of its current Municipal Development Plan By-law No. 300-32. The purpose of re-adoption is to bring the Plan into conformity with the new Community Planning Act, S.N.B. 2017, c. 19, being proposed Municipal Plan By-law No. 300-33; to update ‘Schedule C: 5-Year Capital Budget’; and to include a section on signage, which was not present in the previous by-law. The proposed section on signage includes policies and proposals of Council to help guide the future development of signs in the Town in a manner that helps protect public safety and community aesthetics.
To implement the proposed policies and proposals of the Municipal Plan, the Town Council is also conjointly considering the re-adoption of its current Zoning By-law No. 300-6. The purpose of re-adoption is to also bring the Zoning By-law into conformity with the new Community Planning Act, being proposed Zoning By-law No. 300-7; and to include an update to the signage provisions. This proposed update encompasses standards for sign types that are not addressed in the current Zoning By-law consolidation.
